Yale University School of Medicine was established in 1810 and with the nursing school and hospital forms part of the Yale-New Haven Medical Center.  The local VA, the Connecticut Mental Center, the St. Raphael and Waterbury Hospitals and the Yale Psychiatric hospitals are associates.

The medical school is particularly well knwn and hence attracts many students.  Skiiing in Vermont is easily accessible, and Boston and Washington are short train rides away.  To arrange an elective in any of their hospitals, write to:

There is a $500 administrative fee ($350 if you are only doing 4 weeks).  Please contact Yale for the current administration fees.  The fee allows the student to access all the academic and social facilities.  Electives at Yale University School of Medicine is highly recommended.

Accommodations can be provided in a dormatory adjacent to the school and New Haven Hospital for about $110 a week.  It has good facilities.  Many other students live here too so it is also good socially.

Yale-New Haven Hospital, New Haven, CT.  The hospital is a spacious modern 900 bed teaching hospital with a large children’s hospital attached.  All specialities are catered for with hi-tech facilities.
