When I lived abroad I found that everyone called me for the first 2 weeks I lived there... and then they stopped calling and it was pretty lonely. Even my Mom stopped calling me. I always got homesick at 3am eastern standard time on a Sunday (Sunday evening at 10 where I was) so couldn't call home. Then I got a boyfriend, which kind of helped. At least I could complian to him about how my Mom never called me.

Don't get me wrong, I did go away for my first degree, but it was just nice to come home and be pampered once in a while. I don't have that luxury here because my parents are on the other side of the world! There are pros and cons to both living at home and being on your own... we all have to grow up sooner or later!

Hmm, I’ve never had the opportunity to study away from home, except when we were completing my college thesis when I’m forced to live for a week without the comfort of my home. This must’ve been a difficult experience for you but I know you can easily pull through this, right Adam? And besides, living independently still has its perks right? The freedom, the capacity for self-direction, and the opportunity to become even more independent/self-reliant, among others. Practice more on your cooking skills and I might stay with you there down under. =) Just kidding. I hope. =)
