Today I had one of my friends come up to me and ask me if there was something going on with me and New Chick – we’ll call her NC from now on. I said, “No. Why would there be?” in which he responded, “Dude you’ve been hanging around her quite a bit.” Well I have. I also hang around other people in the class quite a bit, but that doesn’t mean I’m boinking them. Yeah I know “boinking” isn’t the medical term for it, but I’d like to keep this blog rated borderline PG-13 thank you.
Is it really feasible to have a girlfriend while in medical school? Isn’t it just better to be friends with benefits? Maybe I’ll run that by her tomorrow and see what she says. Anyway, it’s one thing to date a random chick, but it’s another ball game when you date somebody in medicine let alone date somebody in your medical year! I don’t know what the hell I want. If this was 5th grade I would be throwing rocks at her and then running away because that’s what boys do when they like somebody. Well things haven’t changed that much I guess. A rock to the face always says “I love you.”
I think it would be hot if she just flat out and said, “Look, I really like you and let’s see where this goes. Also, I’m not looking for anything serious – just a night cap here and there.” Yeah that’s hot. But instead I get people coming up to me telling me that she likes me and shit. I just pretend I don’t know anything which most of the time I don’t. I’m pretty oblivious when it comes to these things. So that’s why I need a girl to spell it out for me.

1Ummm, I’m probably the last person that you should ask for advice. Not that you asked me directly… But from my experience helping many of my friends I know that you know the answer. HA! How’s that for the least helpful advice ever?!
I think it’s pretty clear that you don’t want a relationship, but that she’s interested. So you wonder what will happen if you can start having just a “night cap.” Dude, you know what will happen. This situation is far from “no strings attached.” It may start off as an occasional sleepover here or there (How’s that for keeping it PG-13) but I guarantee it will turn messy.
Hey there’s a chance you end up wanting a relationship, but the issue will come up. Don’t fool yourself into thinking that it won’t.

2I had several acquaintances (MDs, that is) who ended up marrying their college med sweethearts. Now, how sweet was that?! I couldn’t see something wrong in “boinking” new chick, as long as you keep her informed about the status of your relationship. I guess the last thing you want is hating, and being hated, by someone who is in the same class as yours, for you breaking her heart.
about my case, unfortunately no, adam. she’s not blonde. are you familiar with such cases adam? there are lots of phallic piercing incidences in the medical literature right?

3Dr. Wannabe: I know she’s into me but it’s just going to have to stop there. I thought about this a lot and now is not a good time for me to a relationship with anybody. I just have to find a way to tell her before it gets too serious. I know it will be awkward for a while but it’s better I do it now than 3 years from now!
Nurse Ruff: At first when I read your comment I was like “WTF?” then I realized I left a message on your blog LOL. So yeah I’m hoping I don’t see any of that any time soon!

4I enjoyed reading your entry. Hummm yeah tell her before it gets too serious. It hurts in the beginning but she will get over it. With everything going on with her life too and school, she will be over it in a snap. As my father always tells me school is the priority.
Anyways, I was looking at your other blog for new templates for my blog. I check out other websites but I ended up with spyware. I can’t remember the url though but I actually had to reformat my entire computer, Ouch!. I didn’t realized that our virus scanner/protection has already expired. Anyways, before I tell you about my life story, that is the reason I stopped by and of course to see what it new. Hope everything is well. ~Merydith
